Welcome!
We are still in the dog days of summer, but fall and a fresh lineup of speakers for Greater Kansas City Radiological Society is rapidly approaching. We have made several changes to the society. First I would like to welcome our new Vice President, Jeffrey Kunin, MD from St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Kunin has already been instrumental in solidifying the alliance of our two academic institutions, UMKC and KU Medical Center. The biggest change we have made is to shorten the lecture schedule and attempt a format that is more based on quarterly speaking engagements. The first two lectures will end up closely spaced, but we will spread the other lectures out over the year. We will have a total of four speaking engagements.
We are redoubling our efforts to reach out to the community of private practicing radiologists. We would like to see more involvement from the community so we can have a better sense of camaraderie in general. We will be sending out email reminders more frequently this year and we are bringing back paper mailings as well.
We are also changing venues. Although we loved Brio for the great atmosphere it provided, there was often times distracting ambient noise. We are moving to the Plaza III steakhouse just down the street. The private meeting room is dedicated for these sorts of events, and we should be far quieter. We will keep social hour from 6-7 p.m., with lectures from 7-8 p.m. A total of 4 CMEs can be earned.
We are kicking off the year with Richard Gunderman, MD, PhD, MPH on October 5th. He is a board certified radiologist specializing in Pediatric Radiology. He is a dynamic nationally recognized speaker on the subject and has authored over 200 scholarly articles. We are still lining up the rest of the year at this point. If there is a certain topic or speaker of interest please let me know and we will make every effort to suit your request.
Please don’t hesitate to inform me how I can make the society more useful for you or your practice. We can be contacted directly by accessing the officer page. I look forward to seeing you soon!
